Jupiter's enigmatic weather explained by confirmed 'mushball' phenomenon
Author: Sarthak Arora
Here is an article I recently found that explains the non-uniform distribution of ammonia in the atmosphere of Jupiter. This article beautifully describes the problem first and then how the theories developed but eventually failed and why the most recent theory is the best we know. It also has a very neat figure summarising everything. This “non-uniformness” in the atmosphere is also accompanied by ammonia depletion deep into the planet which raises several questions on the authenticity of remote spectroscopic analysis of planets and exoplanets.
